NFT Marketplaces

OpenSea

opensea.io

OpenSea is the largest NFT marketplace. It’s the platform I recommend for artists getting started with NFTs because it lets anyone with an account mint NFTs (many platforms require artists to apply and be selected), and they’ve developed a way to let users create and sell NFTs without paying for gas.

Adding an NFT to OpenSea requires you to either create your own collection (basically a storefront for your digital works), or use another NFT creation tool that connects to OpenSea. The current options for connected NFT creation tools are Rarible, Mintbase, and Cargo.

OpenSea’s simple setup makes a possible to create a collection and NFT in a matter of minutes.

According to OpenSea’s guidelines, there are two setup transactions. The first transaction creates a proxy account, and the second transactions authorizes the proxy account to move a given type of NFT.

Rarible

Rarible also does a great job of making the process of creating an NFT quick and painless. It’s even easier than OpenSea, in that you don’t have to create a collection first or hop over to another NFT creation tool because you can add your NFTs to the already existing Rarible (RARI) collection.
